Cabrini Replaces Columbus in Colorado

A Lady Freedom "shoutout" for the month of March, Women's History Month 2020! as it saw the FIRST WOMAN in the United States to have a paid-state HOLI.DAY - Mother Frances Xavier Cabrini. Columbus Day was replaced by Cabrini Day in Colorado. Cabrini was an Italian-American who came to Colorado in 1902. She opened up an orphanage for girls in North Denver called, Queen of Heaven. She became a naturalized U.S. citizen in 1909, and was well recognized as a humanitarian known for her compassion, her strength, and her shrewdness as a business woman. She is also known as the Universal Patroness of Immigrants. In the same bill, Colorado legislators honored the people and the land where the orphanage was built as once being the homelands of the Cheyenne, Arapaho and Ute Native American Nations; an act greatly appreciated by many who hope for more of such efforts to help restore healing and balance to the land, the nation and all its people. Born in Italy, Mother Cabrini is reported to have been the first U.S. citizen to have been canonized as a Saint by the Roman Catholic Church in 1946. Through her life, Cabrini is known to have suffered from ill health and yet, despite her personal challenges, created and established many schools, hospitals and orphanages not only in the United States, but throughout the world.
